Training for Pennaf Housing is Just Champion!
Staff from the Pennaf Housing Group have been trained in supporting others to get online and make the most of digital technology. The staff, mainly from the Tenancy Services Team of Clwyd Alyn Housing Association, which is a member of the Pennaf Group, have taken part in training provided by Digital Communities Wales, which is run by the Wales Co-operative Centre as part of the Welsh Government’s Digital Inclusion initiative.
The training helps staff members to confidently support clients, customers and residents tenants/services users to access basic online services, to know where to find a range of resources to help get people online and to understand why digital inclusion is important. The staff work with Clwyd Alyn Housing Association residents across north and mid Wales including across the Wrexham and Flintshire areas.
The training was provided by Sioned Wyn Williams, North Wales Digital Inclusion Practitioner Trainer with Digital Communities Wales and was specifically designed for Pennaf Housing with input from Chris Bailey, Clwyd Alyn’s Welfare Benefits and Debt Adviser. “We’d like to thank both Sioned and Chris for helping us in our commitment to train up Digital Champions in the future. Digital inclusion is a key part of the Group’s commitment to customers and this training was a step in helping us to help others in the future,” said Community Development Officer Louise Blackwell.
Digital Communities Wales provides training to organisations that are working with digitally excluded groups, particularly older people, people with disabilities, unemployed people, social housing tenants and families in poverty. In particular, we can train frontline staff and volunteers (for example, customer advisors, tenant support officers, librarians) so they can confidently show people how to use technology.
