Môn Communities First

Communities First in Anglesey is delivered through Môn Communities First Ltd and covers parts of Llangefni and Holyhead.

The Communities First Team delivers a range of projects, often in partnership with other organisations, under three programme themes – Prosperous, Learning and Healthy Communities. Among the activities offered by Môn Communities First are IT drop-in sessions which are open to local residents.

The training and guidance provided to us by Digital Communities Wales has given us the tools and the confidence to be able to assist members of our community most in need – the unemployed, elderly and people with low confidence with technology.

James Hart, Learning Support Officer, Mon Communities First

How We Helped

DCW worked with MCF to develop a digital inclusion strategy document, by providing a template document and support to implement it.

Two-day accredited Digital Champion training was provided by DCW to MCF admin staff and learning officers. The learning officers acquired new ideas from the training, while being shown how to use different methods when helping someone to get online. They were also encouraged to use tablets more in their own sessions. MCF was also included in the digital inclusion partnership being developed in the county, by the local DCW coordinator – Digi Mon Digidol (DMD).

The Impact

The admin staff, who support the delivery of MCF’s IT drop-in sessions, increased their confidence to help others with basic enquiries and knowing where to signpost them for additional help.
