Digital Inclusion Charter

In February 2016 we launched a Digital Inclusion Charter for organisations in Wales which are promoting basic digital skills and helping people get online.

Since the launch of the charter we’ve had over 200 organisations sign-up. Here are some of their stories:

BT’s Support for the Digital Inclusion Charter - BT Wales is helping to equip people with the digital skills they need to access internet services and to make the most out of getting online.
Citizens Online and the Digital Inclusion Charter - Citizens Online actively promotes accessibility, inclusion and support for digital skills. With their project in Gwynedd working to improve access and skills in the local community.
Clwyd Alyn Housing and the Digital Inclusion Charter - Clwyd Alyn have put in place a Digital Inclusion Strategy & Action Plan which outlines how they aim to address digital exclusion in the communities where they operate.
Flintshire Local Voluntary Council Becomes First Signatory of Digital Inclusion Charter - FLVC will be ensuring that all its staff & volunteers have opportunities to learn basic digital skills, and also encouraging them to help others to get online.
How Merthyr Tydfil Libraries Have Embraced the Digital Inclusion Charter - Merthyr Tydfil Libraries are committed to improving digital skills among staff and during the last year approximately 50% of staff training was linked to digital skills.
New Health Site Illustrates Medrwn Môn’s Commitment to the Digital Inclusion Charter - Signing the Digital Inclusion Charter was the next logical step for Medrwn Môn, as digital resources & services are important tools used to help local residents.

The Charter includes six pledges and is a simple way for organisations to show how they are helping digitally excluded people – particularly older people, people with disabilities, unemployed people, social housing tenants and families in poverty – enjoy the benefits of the internet.

Signatories of the Charter also commit to working together in a spirit of co-operation to promote digital inclusion in Wales.
